BIATS Trip – Abingdon Town Tour – Tue 16th June

BIATS next trip is a Town Tour of Abingdon on Tuesday 16th June 2015.  The walk will take in features of the industrial past of this historic town on the Thames, although much has unfortunately been swept away in recent times.  The walk includes:

  • a section of the old Wilts & Berks canal
  • the route of the former railway branch as it left town.
  • the site of the old Morlands brewery
  • the remains of the MG car plant
  • visit to the town museum which has a display relating the history of MG’s presence in the town. (time permitting)
  • other interesting historical features of the old Abingdon

Lunch will be taken in one of the local pubs. The plan is to go by train (0933 from Gloucester to Didcot) then by bus to Abingdon, with return to Gloucester by early evening. Please contact Frank Colls on 01452 538366 if you are interested in joining the trip so that final travel plans and any other details can be notified.
