BIATS Trip – Purton Hulks Visit – Sun 12th July

On Sunday 12th July 2015, BIATS next trip is a guided walk around the site of The Purton Hulks.

This graveyard of old timber vessels was created to stabilise the bank of the Severn around a hundred years ago and recent exploration and research has revealed many fascinating stories. There is much to see and hear about and we will be shown around by Paul Barnett, one of the main people involved in the project.

We meet at 1.45 for a 2pm start, boots or wellingtons are advised, and the visit will last around 2 hours. Car parking opposite the church in Purton (SO692042) is limited so car sharing is essential. Please contact Frank if you are joining us so that car numbers can be minimised and final details notified. There will be a charge (to support the ongoing work of the project) of £5 per person.
